St. Patrick's day!

We went on an adventure through the rainbow. We found our way to the end of all of the colors and discovered. T-Th morning

3 day M-W-F class discovered the gold too. M-W-F class went through the rainbow.
We played a game called don't let the leprechauns catch us. We also played Change places and put balls on and had them flip them off.
They had so much fun! St. Patrick's day is a fun and exciting exploring day. We all found out that we are all part of a big rainbow and without each one of us in it we are not complete. We talked about how our classmates are important and we needed each of them to help find the gold at the end of the rainbow. Thank you parents for all sending fun green foods to share.

Cowboys. Dunes and Deserts

This month we have been discovering deserts. Gobi Desert (the cold desert) located in China and Mongolia. Great Basin Desert- The largest desert in the United states. Sahara Desert- The largest hot desert in the world. Antarctic Desert- Is the largest desert in the world. (even though it is not hot, the Antarctic desert is still a desert because it receives less than 2 inches of participation a year. Antarctic desert is the coldest desert in the world. Atacama Desert- Is located in South America. This is the driest desert in the world.
The children were asked to draw a picture of what they thought a desert looked like. Ethan- Keslee-Mckenzie and Rori

We made cactus and learned about the importance a cactus has. Cactus store water in its thick stem or trunk which feeds desert animals. The leaves on a cactus are called a pad and the pokey parts are called a spine.
Peanut butter. We are working a lot this month on counting and recognition our numbers. Have your child count things in your home.
Ethan with his picture he made of a camel. We learned camels can have 1 or 2 humps. Camels DO NOT store water in their humps (many people think that) Actually they store fatty tissue that helps give them energy.

Do fish live in the desert? NO! We were learning about counting again.

Why do we wear hats in the desert? To keep sun off our faces so we do not sunburn. We listened to Moroccos that is the sound of a rattlesnake.

We learned about turtles. There is a Desert turtle. It has been known a desert turtle can live up to 300 years old. HATCHLINGS ARE ABOUT THE SIZE OF SILVER DOLLARS. THEIR SHELLS ARE SOFT AND COMPOSED MOSTLY OF SCUTES. FEMALE TORTOISES DO NOT PROVIDE CARE FOR THEIR YOUNG. ONLY 1 TO 5 OUT OF EVERY 100 HATCHLINGS WILL SURVIVE TO ADULTHOOD.
